Lift & Learn and Interactive Kiosks — pick up a product, the screen explains it | Retailr

Lift & Learn · Interactive Kiosks

Pick it up and the screen starts talking.

A shopper lifts a shoe, a bottle or a lipstick. The screen beside it instantly shows the story, the specs, the shades and what goes with it — no staff member required, no button to press.

Works with the RFID and NFC tags you already use.

Lift. Trigger. Learn.

Three things happen between a shopper's hand and the screen — and all three take less than a second.

Sensor shelf · RFID / NFC / weight Retailr player Tag → content rule Brand loop Video · specs · reviews · pairings 1 · Lift 2 · Trigger 3 · Learn

It fits the tags you already have.

Most retailers are already tagging stock for inventory or loss prevention. Lift & Learn reads those same tags — you're adding a screen and a rule, not re-tagging the store.

RFID (UHF)

The tags already on your garments and boxes for stocktaking. Reads at shelf distance, no contact needed.

NFC

Tap-range tags for premium goods — a bottle, a watch, a tester unit. Also readable by the shopper's own phone.

Weight & IR pads

No tag at all. A pad under the product detects the lift — ideal for testers, samples and open display units.

Vision triggers

Where tagging isn't practical, a camera-based trigger watches the plinth rather than the person.

Runs on the same Retailr player as your signage — one system, one dashboard Content mapped by SKU, so the merchandising team updates it without touching the shelf Multiple products per screen, or a screen per plinth Works offline — the shelf keeps responding if the network drops

Where it earns its place.

Anywhere the product needs explaining, and the person who could explain it is busy with someone else.

Lift and learn for footwear

Footwear

Lift a runner and the screen plays the tech story — cushioning, drop, colourways in stock, and the lookbook video. Sizes available in-store appear without asking.

Lift and learn for beauty products

Beauty & cosmetics

Pick up a shade and see it applied, the full range beside it, ingredients, and the tutorial. The tester does the selling instead of sitting there.

Interactive kiosk in a retail store

Wine & spirits

Lift a bottle for tasting notes, the region, food pairings and the distillery story — the conversation a specialist would have, on every aisle, all day.

Accessories & luxury

Watches, handbags, eyewear and jewellery: craftsmanship detail, materials, and the pieces that complete the look — at the moment they're holding it.

Electronics — spec comparison between two models the shopper is weighing up Sports & outdoor — materials, weather ratings and fit guidance on technical gear Home & furniture — finishes, dimensions and configurations that won't fit on the floor Pharmacy & supplements — usage, dosage and comparison in a category people won't ask about

More than a screen on a stand.

The same platform runs your interactive kiosks — endless aisle, product configuration, self-service and sign-ups, all tied back to your POS.

Endless aisle — order out-of-stock or online-only items from the floor Discovery & configuration — browse the full catalogue, filter, customise Lead capture — email and loyalty sign-ups in exchange for a digital receipt Self-service checkout — shorter queues, staff freed for real conversations Full POS integration — stock and pricing stay in step

Finally, data from the shelf.

Every lift is a signal of interest. Compare that against what actually sold and you can see which products attract hands but lose the sale.

How long the content held attention before it went back down.

Lift-to-purchase

Picked up often but rarely bought is a price, fit or messaging problem — now visible.

What it changes on the floor.

Never lose a sale

Out of stock on the shelf still becomes an order from the kiosk.

Bigger baskets

Pairings and complementary items surface at the moment of interest.

Staff freed up

The screen answers the repeat questions; your team handles the real consultations.

Confident buyers

People who get their questions answered in the aisle don't leave to "think about it".

Questions we get asked.

Do we need to re-tag our products?

Usually not. If you already tag with RFID or NFC for inventory, we read those. Where there's no tag, a weight or IR pad under the product does the same job.

How fast does the screen respond?

Effectively instant — the content is stored on the local player, so there's no waiting for a network round trip.

Who updates the content?

Your marketing team, from the same dashboard as your signage. Content maps to SKUs, so no one touches the fixture.

What if two people lift products at once?

You can run a screen per plinth, or set priority rules on a shared screen so the most recent lift wins.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. The player holds the content and the trigger rules locally, and syncs when the connection returns.

Can we use it for high-value items?

Yes — and pairing it with tag alerts means an item leaving the plinth unexpectedly can raise a flag as well as play content.

Send us one product. We'll build the shelf.

Tell us the category and how you tag today, and we'll show you the trigger and the content running end to end.
